Saw this trend on twitter and my first thought was — I need to do this with the gang so here we go

Deja and Cam join Juniper (my winter!mc) doodling all over her notes!

I don’t have much time to draw my MC and do her profile properly yet (blame my college quiz and assignments), I will tho, someday.

But, I did write down some basic facts and some random things about her :3

Starting w/ the basics — Juniper Clarke (she/her), 20 (DOB : 12 September/Virgo). Law major and Theatre minor. Korean.

Is adopted by a gay couple, her pa is a lawyer and her dad works as a screenwriter.

The middle child; has an older brother (23) and a younger sister (8).

Got a Korean name from her pa (who is also Korean) that no one other than her family knows, even Deja and Cam.

Low spice tolerance. She once ate the buldak ramen and added a whole pack of the sauce, then ended up crying so hard that Deja started to feel sorry for her and got her some bobas.

Former child actress! (only got the supporting roles tho)

A mother of 3 children cats; Aurora (F), Apollo (M), and Anneliese (F)

Dyed her hair calico color to match Aurora because she is her first pet and raised by herself since 15. (yep she has her favorite but still loves all of them anyway)

No dating experience, nor has she ever felt any attraction to anyone in particular. However, she doesn’t mind dating and thinks about having a partner sometimes. There were some who tried to approach her but their approaches are ALWAYS either annoying or disgusting.

Musically gifted; has an angelic voice and plays many instruments (guitar, bass, piano, violin — the list goes on). Oh! She also likes dancing.

Learned foreign languages just to sing songs in that language perfectly.

Black belt in Taekwondo. It’s best to not mess with her or touch her without consent ;)

Dislikes bugs, but not as afraid of them as Deja is, she only avoids encounters as much as possible — Funny story; she accidentally stepped on a cockroach without noticing, but her two best friends saw everything (panicking even) and hesitated whether they should tell her or not. (they did, and Juniper almost fainted)

Juniper is my one and only MC for keyframes and I have no plans to create more. I ALSO can't choose which LIs I want to pursue but I'd like to see how things go and let future Juniper and the cast decide themselves (even though I kinda drew a meme about her and Jamie in a relationship *cough*). I'm a sucker for slow burn anyway! (Still, I like her chemistry with Percy and Jamie the most lol)

I recently played the Keyframes VN demo and can’t get the character Percy out of my head—well, when Baxter Ward isn’t occupying it.

I’ve been reading the dev blog of Q&A’s to glean what I can about him. So a few days ago I was playing with some ideas about what friendship with him might look like prior to any chance of romance with him.

“Come in!” came the voice from the one occupied bedroom in the dorm suite. Kimmi let herself in, making her way toward the unmistakable gaming sounds coming from the room with the open door.

“I thought we were gonna study, Pretty Boy,” she teased, setting down her book bag by the door.

Percy braved a glance up from the screen with a bright, flirty smile. “Hey Dutchess. Do we ever study when we make plans to--oh shit!” he returned his attention quickly back to the game.

Kimmi snorted and circled closer so she could get a view of the TV screen. “Going old school, huh Tozaki?” She laughed, watching the screen go red before growing dark. “Shouldn’t you be better at this game by now?”

From the side, she could see his dark eyes roll. “It’s the Legends Edition. So not that old. And I’m trying Insanity Mode.”

“Why?” She asked, climbing onto the bed but far enough to give him some space.

He shrugged though he was still biting his bottom lip in concentration. “Better than studying Organic Chem?”

She laughed. “You got me there. I’ll take PolySci over that any day. Who you planning on romancing?” she asked, changing the subject. She knew there was no way of stopping Percry from procrastinating when he had his mind set on it--no matter how easy-going he pretended to be.

“Mass Effect One: Lia--dammit!” his screen went from red to black again.

She laughed. “Just go normal mode. You know you want the story more than the tactics anyway.”

“And you just want the romances--correction. Romance. Singular, Miss Casual Mode.”

“Yup,” she replied, complete with a pop to her pronunciation of the P.

He sighed. “Fine…” He re-loaded the game and toggled the difficulty setting. “Happy?”

Kimmi smirked. “No. But I would be if~~”

Percy’s eyes rolled a second time. “Fine. Go ahead.”

“Like you hate it,” she teased, scrambling up and kneeling behind him on the bed to play with his hair.

“Ah! That’s better!” he sighed dramatically, leaning back against her.

“I wasn’t volunteering to be your gaming chair, Scooter Boy.”

“Awww, Princess, you should feel blessed to be under me.”

Kimmi let out an undignified snort. “As if, fuq boi.” She smacked him lightly in the back of the head. When he relented and returned to sitting, she repositioned herself, pulling out his hair tie and running her fingers through the shaggy layers of his black hair. She laughed when she noticed the ‘paused” indicator flash on the screen as her companion let out a soft sigh.

“What was I saying again?” he asked as she teased out the edges that framed his face. While he played, they continued to banter about romances: Kimmi teasing him for sleeping his way through the galaxy and Percy teasing her about her faithful devotion to one LI through the series of games. All the while her fingers worked a french braid into her friend’s thick hair.

Until the door opened with a noisy chorus of voices entering the common room of the suite.

“Perse?!” Elios’s voice called out.

“I see Kimmi’s bag, she must be here too,” Deja’s voice added.

Without letting go of the almost-finished braid, Kimmi leaned over his shoulder, flashing an impish grin. “Wanna mess with them?” she murmured just loud enough for him to hear. Percy answered with a mischievous smirk of his own.

“Hurry, get it back on, Babe!” he stage whispered loudly enough for the next room to hear and handed her the hair tie.

“My hands are kinda…busy, Percy,” she said with feigned urgency as she carefully twisted the hair tie around the end of his new braid and gave it a little pat.

“Uh--We’ll be out in a minute!” Percy called out.

The room beyond went silent.

Then broke out into hurried half-whispering.

“Since when have they…um…”

“Do we dare check--”

“No!” Several voices shouted at once.

“I don’t want to know.” That last one was definitely Jamie’s voice.

Kimmi and Percy’s foreheads lightly clunked together as they struggled to keep their laughter silent--which ultimately failed, the two falling over onto the bed in loud peals of mirth…to the great relief of their friends.

Except for Jamie who truly didn’t care one way or the other.

SHXKFKLSLS okay bestie understandable. i get it. i never self-insert in games but also im white so i see how this would be a problem.

anyway your best shot is indie otome games because these have a LOT more customization options and a lot more diverse LIs, too. itch.io is the best place to find them and as a plus a lot of them are free !

here’s some of my favs:

our life beginnings and always is like the end all be all when it comes to customization. play childhood through adulthood with the best man of all time cove holden. you decide what your character looks like, their sexuality, gender etc. it’s so amazing overall there’s no other game that has this amount of customization. the dev (gb patch) is working on a similar game called our life now and forever which you can play the demo of!! this one will have more customization! everyone needs to play olba. this is the game that got me into otome. it’s so cozy and warm and peak romance. COVE IS THE MAN OF ALL TIME. free with paid dlc that adds more scenes, i bought it after like an hour of playing lmao

a date with death yall know how much i love this one. also great customization here. if you love teasing and harassing pretty men this is for you. also free, with paid dlc that adds more options

keyframes is only a demo for now but im so excited about the full game!! choose your name and pronouns and a fun quiz that determines your seasonal personality which impacts the game!! the three boys you can romance are so cute too…

haven’t played blooming panic in a minute but iirc you customize your name and pronouns here. it’s a chat sim kinda type where you’re in a discord server for fans of a comic. all the LIs here are super charming and unique, and since it’s all online w fake video chats with the LIs it’s really immersive!!

there’s a lot out there but these r some of my favs!! definitely check out indie vns. i love jp otome games but you’ll find the most customization in the indie world!!!!

Speaking of playing with sprites like dolls...I have that old FF6 Opera Scene in Chrono Trigger sprites that I never actually completed. I should get back in and finish that.

Kinda obvious, but the plan is to take the Queen Leene and Princess Nadia sprites, and all the Guardia Kingdom Knight sprites from 600 AD (maybe some from 1000 AD?), and remake as much of the Opera Scenes as possible. Up to and Including animating it w/ music (bc I hate myself apparently).

I started this at the height of Flash w/ all my classes that taught me how to use this program in my degree (that I never finished). I technically still have Flash on my computer, so theoretically I could still use it to animate and export as a video file.

(Or I could find a different keyframe animation software and teach myself that? Meh.)

to anyone genuinely asking if this is real: no im sorry to disappoint i edited this for the bit. to anyone asking how i pulled this off so quickly: i actually procrastinated on this most the day then used some spare 15 mins. anyways im bored so im gonna teach you how to make your own boop o meter memes!

STEP 1: screenshot the boop-o-meter! im using windows' old snip tool lol

STEP 2: clean up! i'm using photoshop's spot healingg tool but you can just paint it over or use the clone stamp or whatever works for you

STEP 3: i hopped onto after effects and made a composition THE SIZE OF MY BOOP-O-METER. i set it to 12 fps because i felt it gave it some sort of crappy low quality effect that i felt was fitting (plus i wanted to make the gif as light as possible)

STEP 4: I added both the clear and normal version and animated the opacity of the clear meter with keyframes set on hold so that it flickered on and off.

STEP 5: went on youtube and searched up "never gonna give you up greenscreen". any of these will do

I then of course placed it on my comp on top of the boop-o-meter

STEP 6: to get rid of the greenscreen, i applied the keylight effect. it's quite straightforward: you go to screencolor, eyedrop the greenscreen color and you have a perfectly transparent rick astley!

STEP 7: i added the following effects:

-black and white: self explanatory, makes the image monochrome. i left the settings as is

-posterize: makes it so it deals in absolutes. lcd screens like the one the boop-o-meter imitates only had 2 settings: on and off. black or white. no grays. setting posterization to 2 levels does the same.

-mosaic: pixels!! play around with the numbers according to the size of your composition.TURN SHARP COLORS ON, otherwise it defeats the purpose of the posterize effect.

STEP 8: from the timeline, i changed the layer mode of the video to multiply and set the opacity to around 60% to simulate the boop-o-meter's style

I also noticed that the pixels were ever so slightly warm toned, so i used lumetri to better match it. this is a completely skippable step, im just insufferable like that

STEP 9: Lastly, i used the pen tool to create a mask in the shape of the screen

and that's pretty much it! then i went to composition > add to render queue and exported! these were my particular settings,

i used avi and rgb + alpha because i wanted to keep the transparency of my boop-o-meter. this is just extra. you can definitely leave it on H.264 and RGB as it comes by default.

STEP 10: we're technically done, but if you want to turn the video you just made into a gif, just open it on photoshop, go to file > export > save for web, and save it as a gif. these were my particular settings but u can play around w these

And there you go! thats's how i wasted my years of graphic and multimedial formal studies on a rickroll meme.

If you don't wanna do all that, here's the after effects file so that you can replace the rick roll with anything, such as doom, bad apple, the destiel confession, etcetera

have fun! and don't forget to always play with jpegs (or in this case mp4s) like dolls!!

I was actually a reallllyyyy big reader, that's why my room has two almost full bookshelves, but ever since school got in the way, I haven't had time or motivation to read my newly bought novels </3 the last thing I read, albeit, not finished was 'full disclosure' by camryn garrett,, tho I wish to get into the lunar chronicles so I might actually try to finish 'cinder' TT I also have my fave book that I reread from time to time, 'how to fall in love' by cecelia ahern :D

Creating a cinematic in unreal.

To create a cinematic we need to right click in the content drawer and find cinematics then level sequence.

Once you have made the level sequence a menu like the animation menu should appear. That is the cinematic timeline and works practically the same as the animation timeline.

Now we have that worked out we need to give the level sequence a cinematic camera, to do this go to the top left of the editor and click the camera button.

you will then be in control of the camera using w,a,s,d this is how you can angle and create the shots for your scene.

Then add the keyframes and render it like I've shown in my previous posts.

Make the cinematics work:

to then implement it into code, go into a blueprint and add on event begin play then create level sequence player . Make sure this is set to cinematic and then add a play node.

Then it is made.

ANIMATING IN MAYA

In Maya, we were given an environment to animate a ball in. For instance, we were asked to make it go along the pathway of the environment.

But first, we were given a tutorial by our lecturer through google meet. The tutorial was given step-by-step and repeated if we felt like we didn't really get a part.

Tutorial Notes:

To add a camera: Create > camera > the camera option

S: To keyframe the timeline

Move camera or sphere (E or W) > press S and repeat this process

To watch the animation process:

Arnold > Render > the red button is to be clicked > click the play button next to the timeline to see the animation in the renderview.

By right clicking, you can delete or copy a keyframe too.

Hi everyone! This post is related to what we learned on Monday. Just as the title of this post suggests, we learned how to animate on Maya by recording a rolling sphere in a city.

We started off the day with a zoom call with Ravindu. He gave us a quick tutorial on how to key frame the movements of the sphere and how to add in a camera.

Later, he gave us a copy of a city scape he had created and asked us to practice what we just learned.

Our task was to animate a ball rolling through the city and animate a camera recording the ball.

e.g. Being chased around the city by the ball

Notes :-

Adding a camera -

create > camera > only the first camera

S - keyframing in timeline

Move camera or sphere (e or w) > Press S [ Repeat this process ]

Watching the animation process -

Arnold > Render > click the red button > click the play button next to the timeline to see it animate in the render view.

You can delete or even copy a key frame by right clicking it.

I did literally just say I love Sonic now more than ever so gonna offset my last post about Prime being negative by mentioning a few things I really like about Prime.

One of the biggest ones is just how dope it looks! Really fun stylised 3D animation that looks smooth and has a good focus on like, keyframing and strong poses - combined with the really expressive mdoels it’s a style that really works for Sonic and I can’t wait for more even just to see how it looks.

And on visuals, I really like the character designs! Part of the reason I grind Sonic Dash so hard or why I bought the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is because getting any official opportunity to see the characters in alternate outfits is usually just super fun, especially because of how strict SEGA usually is with that stuff. Prime meanwhile comes around and has given us like 3 extra outfits for several of the core cast with still more to come! That’s just blanket really fun!

I also like that Sonic’s new looks tend to give him neat little abilities. Narratively it doesn’t amount to much but I don’t even feel like it has to - it’s a neat surprise factor/rule of cool thing that adds character to whichever universe we’re in and enhances Sonic’s reactions to those places as well. If anything it’d honestly be cool to have something like that in the games lol.

I like the voice acting a lot! I actually can’t meaningfully expand on that one lol, it just sounds really good, everyone feels well cast to me, it doesn’t feel like many awkward line reads made it through to the final thing. They are just nice. The only person I don’t adore is Eggman but even then, A) I so can’t imagine non-Mike Pollock Eggmen and B) actual Eggman is mostly absent in favour of Mister Doctor Eggman so I’m pretty much solid with it anyway.

I really enjoy New Yoke as a setting a lot. “What if the villain won?” is a classic setting for a reason, even being one that multiple pieces of Sonic media have explored, but I think New Yoke manages to feel particularly fresh even just on execution and aesthetic alone. It helps that it still feels very lived in - there’s a living, breathing population and a band of rebels that operate in secret and there’s Nine’s hideout and just like, cool shit going on lol.

For that matter I like Nine a lot. I literally put Tails as my 5th favourite Sonic character in that list I did a while back and he’s been in virtually every single Sonic game even during some of its most intense Solo Sonica eras - but he can feel very relegated to the background because of the nature of his character sometimes? So it’s really awesome to see Prime use Nine as an excuse to really let Tails play a major role with lots of actual development and stuff. This is helped doubly by the fact that, awkward pixel art aside, the flashback of his actual backstory (as canonised by Origins wow) alone helps him just feel like the real Tails we’re dealing with, just in a different setting. And yeah, the mechanical Tails are just really cool lol. Particularly a fan of the fact that it allows Tails to be up close and personal in combat again - he’s supposed to use his Tails to attack as well but lots of Sonic media has him holding back for support roles in combat, it’s nice that Prime is willing to acknowledge that, yo, Tails can throw hands. And also tails lmaoooooo

I’m not sure how best to word this part specifically also, but I personally was worried that Prime would sorta like, I guess just follow a rigid structure of x episodes in x shatterverse, grab the crystals, and then move onto the next one? The formula not really changing? But it does not do that and we kinda go back and forth between them and there’s things happening between the shatterverses and like, just in general there’s an actually good attempt to keep the structure fresh and interesting.

And the biggest thing of all is that. Prime is actually just really fun lol. There’s a lot of other good things I haven’t mentioned, but it all comes together with what I have to make a show that’s actually just plain old entertaining to watch. I didn’t feel like I was watching the new Sonic show out of obligation, I was just watching it because I genuinely liked watching it. Even my problems with it don’t feel like a huge deal because it’s so good at the moment-to-moment that I wasn’t really thinking about them while watching. Like it’s literally just a good show, and that slaps.

So fuck yeah, Prime is dope.

i would like blender tips :3

this has been in my inbox for a little bit and since i wrote out one really long post and posted 3 youtube videos ill just list out all the hotkeys i can remember and recommend one thing: using side/front/top view in orthographic view is very helpful for alignment and general shaping since you can kind of work through each side (conducive to working from reference photos where you have a view of the front, side, and back) -- and play with "proportional editing" - if you look it up youll see where the toggle button is. and HAVE FUN!

GENERAL G - grab S - scale R - rotate (while rotating, can type numbers (ex: 90) to rotate specific degrees) X, Y, Z - lock your movement, scaling, or rotation to the x, y, or z axis (respectively) A - select all F2 - rename/rename in hierarchy/etc NUMPAD 5 - toggle orthographic view shift + D - duplicate N - toggle sidebar

EDIT MODE 1, 2, and 3 - switch between vertex, edge, and face mode (respectively) ctrl + B - bevel E - extrude face alt + E - extra extrude options, helpful for when youre extruding multiple faces that are facing different directions F - create face from selected edges G AFTER selection of vertex or edge - enter "vertex/edge slide" mode P - separate your selection into a new object of its own ctrl + R - add edge loops (scroll wheel on mouse to add more) W - cycle through different selection cursor types (box, click, lasso, etc) alt + Z - toggle xray view

OBJECT MODE ctrl + P - parent a selected object to your most recently selected object ctrl + J - (shift select desired objects first) join two objects so they become one I - insert keyframe (for selected object)

- 3 Abstract Color Thumbnails

Reflection

I spent a bit more time on the thumbnails compared to yesterday and tried to use different brushes and approaches to these small paintings and they look much better as a result. I’ll try and spend the same amount of time tomorrow as well.

Doing a more graphic rendition of the frame and using much more simple brushes. I had fun with this rendition although I’ll add more texture in the next one. Drawing fast and more loose definitely helps with the speed of the painting however, I feel like I can make much more appealing drawings so, I’m suggesting to add a figure drawing exercise in the coming weeks.

Along with that, I want to try adding black and white thumbnail sketching just like the one in the breakdown of the frame next week. I’m inspired by looking at Jama Jurabaev for these tiny sketches.

On another topic, I would like to play with my daily schedule as to what I like to do and what other exercises I can add to that. (Example: Doing a portrait sketch every Saturday but I omit having to do a film study and or doing one cinematic keyframe painting from the colored thumbnails I’ve been doing this week)

Sure. I created the set in After Effects (before turning the avi file into a gif). For the first gif, It’s a bordered font w/ fill off and a glow effect applied. Then I enabled the 3D option for the layers and turned on the position keyframes at the end of the gif with the z axis at 0, and then in the first frame, “zoomed in” on the z axis until the letters disappeared. When it plays it looks like the letters are flying in. I then applied an echo effect. Played with the settings until I got that repeating look.

For the King of My Heart Gifs, I used this yt tutorial. Basically, you apply a vignette effect and a very slight glow. But the effect that makes it look like an old video is an animation preset in effects called Bad TV 3 - weak. Delete the original warp effect it applies, and adjust the noise & venetian blinds effects so they aren’t so strong.

Finally, I got a VCR overlay from youtube and added it on top, setting it to screen.
